Furthermore God said, “Let us make man in our image according to our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over the beasts, and over all the earth, and over everything that creeps and moves on the earth.” Thus God created the man in his image: in the image of God he created him: he created them male and female. And God blessed them, and God said to them, “Bring forth fruit and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it, and rule over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over every beast that moves upon the earth.”

Genesis 1:26-28, THE HOLY BIBLE

To him that excells. A Psalm of David.

1 O Lord, you have tried me and known me.
2 you know my sitting and my rising: you understand my thought afar off.
3 you examine my paths and my lying down, and are accustomed to all my ways.
4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but behold, you know it wholly, O Lord.
5 you shut me in behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.
6 your knowledge is too wonderful for me: it is so high that I cannot attain it.
7 Where shall I go from your Spirit? or where shall I flee from your presence?
8 If I ascend into heaven, you are there: if I lie down in hell, you are there.
9 Let me take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea:
10 Yet there shall your hand lead me, and your right hand hold me.
11 If I say, “Yet the darkness shall hide me,” even the night shall be light around me.
12 Yes, the darkness does not hide from you: but the night shines as the day: the darkness and light are both alike.
13 For you have possessed my reins: you have covered me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderously made: marvelous are your works, and my soul knows it well.
15 My bones are not hidden from you, though I was made in a secret place, and fashioned beneath in the earth.
16 your eyes saw me when I was without form: for in your book were all things written, which in continuance were fashioned, when there were none of them before.
17 How dear therefore are your thoughts to me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they are more than the sand: when I wake, I am still with you.
19 Oh that you would slay, O God, the wicked and bloody men, to whom I say, “Depart from me:”
20 Who speak wickedly of you, and being your enemies, are lifted up in vain.
21 Do I not hate them, O Lord, that hate you? and do I not earnestly contend with those that rise up against you?
22 I hate them with a sincere hatred, as they were my utter enemies.
23 Try me, O God, and know my heart: prove me and know my thoughts,
24 And consider if there be any way of wickedness in me, and lead me in the way forever.

Psalm 139, THE HOLY BIBLE

1 Praise the Lord, because he is good: for his mercy endures forever.
2 Praise the God of gods: for his mercy endures forever.
3 Praise the Lord of lords: for his mercy endures forever:
4 Who only does great wonders: for his mercy endures forever:
5 Who by his wisdom made the heavens: for his mercy endures forever:
6 Who has stretched out the earth upon the waters: for his mercy endures forever:
7 Who made great lights: for his mercy endures forever:
8 As the sun to rule the day: for his mercy endures forever:
9 The moon and the stars to govern the night: for his mercy endures forever:
10 Who struck Egypt in their firstborn, (for his mercy endures forever)
11 And brought out Israel from among them (for his mercy endures forever)
12 With a mighty hand and stretched out arm: for his mercy endures forever:
13 Who devided the red Sea in two parts: for his mercy endures forever:
14 And made Israel to pass through the middle of it: for his mercy endures forever:
15 And overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the red Sea: for his mercy endures forever:
16 Who led his people through the wilderness: for his mercy endures forever:
17 Who struck great kings: for his mercy endures forever:
18 And slew mighty kings: for his mercy endures forever:
19 As Sihon king of the Amorites: for his mercy endures forever:
20 And Og the king of Bashan: for his mercy endures forever:
21 And gave their land for a heritage: for his mercy endures forever:
22 Even a heritage to Israel his servant: for his mercy endures forever:
23 Who remembered us in our lowliness: for his mercy endures forever:
24 And has rescued us from our oppressors: for his mercy endures forever:
25 Who gives food to all flesh: for his mercy endures forever.
26 Praise the God of heaven: for his mercy endures forever.

Psalm 136, THE HOLY BIBLE

To him that excells on Gittith. A Psalm of David.

1 O Lord our Lord, how excellent is your Name in all the world! who have set your glory above the heavens.
2 Out of the mouth of babes and infants you have ordained strength, because of your enemies, that you might still the enemy and the avenger.
3 When I behold your heavens, even the works of your fingers, the moon and the stars which you have ordained,
4 What is man, I say, that you are mindful of him? and the son of man, that you visit him?
5 For you have made him a little lower than God, and crowned him with glory and worship.
6 You have made him to have dominion in the works of your hands: you have put all things under his feet:
7 All sheep and oxen: yes, and the beasts of the field:
8 The birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, and that which passes through the paths of the seas.
9 O Lord our Lord, how excellent is your Name in all the world!

Psalm 8, THE HOLY BIBLE

1 And when the Sabbath day was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought sweet ointments, that they might come and anoint him.
2 Therefore early in the morning, the first day of the week, they came to the tomb, when the Sun was now risen.
3 And they said one to another, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the tomb?
4 And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away (for it was a very great one)
5 So they went into the tomb, and saw a young man sitting at the right side, clothed in a long white robe: and they were greatly troubled.
6 But he said to them, “Do not be so troubled: you seek Jesus of Nazareth, who has been crucified: he is risen, he is not here: behold the place where they put him.
7 But go your way, and tell his disciples, and Peter, that he will go before you into Galilee: there you shall see him, as he said to you.”
8 And they went out quickly, and fled from the tomb: for they trembled, and were amazed: neither did they say any thing to any man: for they were afraid.
9 And when Jesus was risen again, early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils:
10 And she went and told them that had been with him, which mourned and wept.
11 And when they heard that he was alive, and had appeared to her, they did not believe it.
12 After that, he appeared to two of them in another form, as they walked and went into the country.
13 And they went, and told it to the remnant, neither did they believe them.
14 Finally, he appeared to the eleven as they sat together, and rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe them that had seen him, being risen up again.
15 And he said to them, “Go into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature.
16 He that shall believe and be baptized shall be saved: but he that will not believe shall be damned.
17 And these tokens shall follow them that believe, In my Name they shall cast out devils, and shall speak with new tongues,
18 And shall take away serpents, and if they shall drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them: they shall lay their hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”
19 So after the Lord had spoken to them, he was received into heaven, and sat at the right hand of God.
20 And they went forth, and preached everywhere. And the Lord worked with them, and confirmed the word with signs that followed. Amen.
